Hi! I’m Benn!
Welcome. I’m really glad you’re here.
It means something that you took a moment to land on this page.
However you got here, I don’t take that lightly.
My first attempt at organizing came in the wake of the Columbine shooting in 1999.
I started a SAVE chapter at my high school because I didn’t know what else to do with the grief and urgency I felt.
I’ve been trying to answer that same question ever since:
What do you do when you care deeply and can’t look away?
Over the past two decades, that question has taken me across movements, sectors, and roles. I’ve helped lead campaigns for Marriage Equality across multiple states, supported non-discrimination efforts, and worked on Ranked Choice Voting among other issues I care about. I’ve partnered with national organizations and grassroots teams alike.
More recently, I’ve been trained by B Lab US and Canada on the B Corp standards and have worked with companies to measure and improve their impact as B Corps, supporting brands like Stonyfield Organic, True Botanicals, and Allagash Brewing. I teach at the University of New Hampshire, helping students understand how business can be a force for good.
I’ve spent my career moving between organizing and business. Between systems change and strategy. Between urgency and structure.
I’m also a trans man.
That experience has shaped how I understand power, belonging, and the systems we’re all navigating.
And here’s what I’ve come to believe:
The people doing this work, inside companies, across teams, and within broader movements, are often working toward the same outcomes. Dignity. Safety. Regeneration. A future that is actually livable for all.
And too often, they’re doing it alone.
The Rising Kind is something I’m beginning to build in response to that.
It’s not fully formed yet.
It’s evolving in real time.
And it’s meant to be built with the people it serves.
What I’m creating is a space for people using business as a force for good to have somewhere to go with the work.
A place to learn and get support.
A place to ask better questions.
A place to navigate complexity.
And a place where you do not have to figure it all out on your own.
There will be courses and practical resources to help you move from intention to implementation.
There will be opportunities to connect with others walking a similar path.
And there will be access to me, for guidance, workshopping challenges, and making sense of what’s next.
Because the real value is not just information.
It is being in it with other people who understand the weight and the possibility of the work.
If that resonates, you’re exactly who this is for.
This is just the beginning.
